Acts to Follow, a new theatre group at the Schornick Theatre, presents one-act plays along with a short original play by an emerging playwright. Girls softball league has a brand new layout! All skill levels are welcome. Player evaluations are at Belvidere Park (rain date will be at the Field House) on Tuesday, May 28. Evaluations for girls ages 7-9 is at 5pm, use program #5318 when registering.
Ages 10-12 at 6pm, use program #5319 and ages 13-16 at 7pm, use program #5320. Cost is $40 for residents and $47 for non-residents. Bowen Park Theatre Company seeks eleven men (20's-60's) and three women (20's-60's) for the fall production of Robert Bolt’s compelling 1962 drama, A Man For All Seasons. Auditions will be held on Sunday, June 9 from Noon-4pm and Monday, June 10, from 6-9pm. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are always welcome. Click here for more information.

The Waukegan Park District has contracted with Hendrickson Flying Service, Inc. to conduct helicopter aerial spraying of BTK (Bacillus thuringiencis var. kurstaki) over these sites beginning in May and early June. Many other northern Illinois communities have successfully controlled Gypsy Moth infestation by spraying BTK. It is extremely important to control Gypsy Moth caterpillars in the spring when they begin to feed upon deciduous trees. Click here for more information.

The Waukegan Park District is in search of organizations, businesses, teams, and other groups to participate in our 2013 American Independence Parade which will be taking place on June 30. Parade line up will begin at 11:30am along Sheridan Road, between Franklin and Washington Streets. The parade will step off at 1:00pm and travel North on Sheridan Road to Bowen Park. Entries may include walking units, vehicles, floats, bands/drill teams, or any other imaginative group that will contribute excitement, pride, and a sense of community to this year’s parade!

The Waukegan Park District has sites that are ideal for all your outdoor get togethers. Park Use Permit and Pavilion Rental Applications are available for the upcoming season. Applications can be downloaded by clicking here and must be completed for Pavilion Rentals and Green Space Permits. Applications can be made in person at the Belvidere Recreation Center, 412 South Lewis Avenue during regular business hours (Monday thru Friday, 9am-4:30pm). Acts to Follow is a theatre group housed at the Jack Benny Center for the Arts, 39 Jack Benny Drive- Bowen Park, Waukegan, IL. The ensemble group is looking for original short plays with a runtime of approximately 10 minutes. The troupe of actors perform a published one-act play and an original short with each performance.
