Waukegan Park District Parks

GazeboThe Waukegan Park District encompassing 46 neighborhood and community parks and two golf courses with 719 acres of land, serves the culturally-diverse community of Waukegan. Park amenities include a skate park, dog exercise area, BMX track, formal garden, disc golf course, picnic pavilions, interpretive areas, basketball courts, baseball and softball fields, 32 playgrounds, tennis courts, soccer fields, hiking/jogging/walking paths and a physical fitness course.

Use of parks and facilities is governed by an “Ordinance Regulating the Use of the Parks and Property Owned or Controlled by the Waukegan Park District” adopted by the Board of Commissioners.Formal Gardens

 

Park Operating Hours
Parks open at sunrise and close at sunset, except for designated permitted activities.

 

 

Playground water features are OPEN for the season (Memorial Day through Labor Day - weather permitting). Bowen, Bedrosian and Waukegan SportsPark playgrounds have splash pads.

 

Vandalism and Graffiti
We greatly appreciate our citizens for being our eyes and ears when using the parks.  To report graffiti or vandalism, please call the parks department at 847.360.4725 or non-emergency Police 847.360.9000.

 

Important Park Use Policies
Listed below are important policies that are critical to safe and responsible park operations.  These signs are prominently placed throughout our park system:

  • Please use waste receptacles
  • No loud music
  • Please leash your pets and scoop
  • No parking on grass
  • No alcoholic beverages
  • No smoking/tobacco
  • No golfing, except on golf courses
