General Park Information

The Waukegan Park District manages 51 properties including two golf courses, neighborhood and community parks and four recreational facilities. The District encompassing 740 acres of land and serves the culturally-diverse community of Waukegan. Park amenities include a skate park, dog exercise areas, BMX track, formal garden, disc golf course, picnic pavilions, interpretive areas, basketball courts, baseball and softball fields, 34 playgrounds, five outdoor fitness exercise areas, splash pads including the Corrine J. Rose Park SplashZone, tennis courts, pickleball courts, soccer fields, hiking/jogging/walking paths and a physical fitness course.

Use of parks and facilities is governed by an Ordinance Regulating the Use of the Parks and Property Owned or Controlled by the Waukegan Park District adopted by the Board of Commissioners.

Park Operating Hours

Parks open at sunrise and close at sunset, except for designated permitted activities.

Playground water features are open from Memorial Day through Labor Day – weather permitting. Bowen, Bedrosian, Clearview, Waukegan SportsPark, and Corrine J. Rose Park playgrounds have splash pads.
