MISSION
The Waukegan Parks Foundation 501(c)3 is a not for profit that serves as a partner and fundraising organization for the Waukegan Park District. The Foundation is to strengthen the minds and bodies of community members, build community image and pride, and ensure access to parks, programs, and facilities for all while being financially and environmentally sound.
VISION
The Waukegan Parks Foundation envisions itself as a catalyst to integrate and grow the philanthropic relationship between the Waukegan Park District and community of Waukegan. Through a diverse group of highly dedicated volunteers, the Foundation builds on the strength and positive perception of the Waukegan Park District by financially supporting targeted educational, environmental, and health-based programs, ensuring equity for all, and stimulating philanthropy in the Waukegan community.
The Waukegan Parks Foundation Board of Directors, governed by bylaws, works collaboratively with the Waukegan Park District to support its efforts related to fitness, wellness, and healthy living. Below, you will find the list of the current Board of Directors.

To expand environmental and sustainability initiatives, the Waukegan Parks Foundation launched a pollinator project and installed four honeybee hives at Pollinator Park, located at 1552 Winhaven Drive. This project provides a hands-on learning experience for families. Our honeybees have produced a beautiful, natural honey that is a testament to the work being done to promote sustainability and environmental stewardship.
In 2024, the Waukegan Parks Foundation contributed $9,000 to the Waukegan Park District to enhance recreation programs while ensuring they remain accessible and affordable for the community. The contribution will benefit summer camps, theatre programs, swim lessons for individuals with disabilities, and more. All funds were donated by community partners.
Second grade students in Waukegan public and private schools have an opportunity to participate in a field trip to the Field House Sports, Fitness and Aquatics Center to get children comfortable in the water, learn about water safety and introduce swimming. Through March of 2020, more than 3,000 students participated.
The Percussion Playground and Healing Garden were Waukegan Parks Foundation Projects. Thank you to the contributors who made these projects possible for the generations of Waukegan residents to enjoy. Special gratitude and recognition are extended to North Shore Gas for its lead donations in both projects.
